Lise Moorcroft

Lise is part of the celebrated Moorcroft Dynasty famous for its spectacular decorated ceramics. Lise has inherited all of this talent, and added her own style to decorating statement pieces of art. She is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher ensuring that participants reach their full potential in each workshop while having a fun and relaxing time.

The Ceramic Art Workshops are short courses of three weekly sessions on a Wednesday afternoon.

From 1.30 – 4.30pm

Wednesday 6th November to Wednesday 20th November – Botanicals and Seasonal

Christmas is coming – if you want to make a super special exclusive gift, or have a statement piece of ceramic art to grace your home which reflects the season, this short course of three afternoon workshops is for you. Choose one of our statement vases and create a unique piece of ceramic art that you will be proud to display or gift to that extra special person. Using botanicals and adding seasonal botanicals should you desire, this course will be a creative and therapeutic  time out before the seasonal rush.

£150.00 for the course plus Statement vase (£35 or £40 depending upon choice)

15th January to 29th January 2025  “In the Style of” Gustav Klimt. 

Klimt’s work is often distinguished by elegant gold or coloured decoration, spirals and swirls, We’ll be taking inspiration from this and will add gilding to your beautiful statement piece as well as decorating and firing.

£150.00 for the course plus Statement vase (£35 or £40 depending upon choice)   

Wednesday 5th Feb to Wed 19th Feb 2025 – Flower Fairies

Since their first publication in 1923, Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies have enchanted both adults and children alike around the world. The botanically accurate drawings in the 170 original illustrations, coupled with the enchanting fairy images based on real children from Cicely’s sister’s nursery school, appeal to our innate sense of magic and wonder.​

Wednesday 26th Feb to 12th March 2025 – Art Nouveau Poster Art

The Art Nouveau posters and illustrations almost always feature women, representing glamor, beauty and modernity. Images of men are extremely rare. Posters and illustrations are highly stylized. approaching two dimensions, and frequently are filled with flowers and other vegetal decoration. The major artists who created work in this domain included Aubrey Beardsley in Britain, The Czech Alphonse Mucha and Eugène Grasset, Jules Chéret, Georges de Feure and the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec in France, Koloman Moser in Vienna, and Will H. Bradley in the United States.

Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature

and artifacts of Mexico. Inspired by the country’s popular culture, she employed a naïve folk art style.  Her paintings often had strong autobiographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy.  Kahlo has been described as a surrealist or magical realist
